About this deal

Wanneer Cody in het park ‘Escape‘ twee nieuwe vrienden maakt, Inga en Jayson, doet hij zich in eerste instantie anders voor dan hij is.

The book is extremely informative if a little dry in the delivery. This is the kind of book that many should be aware of. This is a factual retelling of Carolyn’s life and life in the FLDS ruled by men. There are lots of other unsavoury aspects to the FLDS that Carolyn did not get into as she was tied up trying to look after 8 children in a horrible environment of bullying and abuse. You can certainly read them online. Warren Jeffs would become the prophet and the FLDS took an even more extreme turn which was supposed to work out well for Warren and his cronies. For the longest time, this graphic novel is confined to the limited doings and far-straying thoughts of a bearded man lying on a mattress, his left wrist handcuffed to a radiator. But what could be dull is mesmerising. It is based on interviews with Christopher Andre, who was taken hostage in 1997, while working in Chechnya for Médecins Sans Frontières. The escape is super-tense. But beyond the servile and abusive to individuality "form" is also the occurrence of vile evil perpetrators becoming authority at the "head" in this time and in Carolyn's case. It's all anyone talks about, and it's all Cody dreams about. It's the biggest adventure park in the world, and it's more than mere rides and rollercoasters: At ESCAPE, you can do anything you want, be anyone you want, and there are no adults to tell you no.Het verhaal is geschreven vanuit Cody, en zijn emoties en gevoelens komen duidelijk over. Een tiener die geen goed zelfbeeld heeft, ruziënde ouders thuis en zichzelf afvraagt waar hij thuis hoort in de wereld. Here are 10 of my favourite great escapes, because sometimes Steve McQueen’s motorcycle does make it over the barbed wire fence. Dat gezegd hebbende, vond ik ook in dit boek de schrijfstijl weer heerlijk vlot en beeldend. K.R. Alexander heeft wederom een geweldige fantasie wereld geschapen met deze keer scifi elementen. It didn't have enough time to develop its themes or its characters as well as it could have, particularly in the setting. I think the setting was not explored nearly enough. A theme park gone wrong is a fantastic setting for creepy shenanigans. And I really took to heart the descriptions of this being a twisted Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Anyway, Jessop's story is incredible and eye-opening. What makes this book great, though, is that she didn't try to write it alone. In fact, my only qualm with her collaborator is that occassionally there were devices and phrasing that bore the stamp of an experienced writer, whereas the rest of the book was the simple and straightforward account of an individual. But, those differences were infrequent, and not too distracting, so no doubt the book was helped immensely by Laura (can't remember her last name). I wish all non-witers with an interesting story to tell would enlist help in doing so. It makes for a much more enjoyable read. In het verhaal zijn zij twee beroemde tieners. K.R. Alexander maakt tussen de regels echter meer dan duidelijk, dat beroemd zijn helemaal niet zo zaligmakend is als we vaak denken.I’ve generally enjoyed reading Patterson’s books, which I get from the library because I don’t find him good enough to buy and keep in my library. He’s mind candy – simple, fast-paced, detective and mystery-oriented adventures that can be read in about two to three days and easily left behind. Nice escapism, but nothing super memorable.
