For what it's worth here are four shots I took yesterday with the 35-100, default jpg settings straight out of the camera, exported from Lightroom with a bit of compression to help with the sizes. we see the image of that lens de-centering on the left-hand side of the frame; stopping down to ƒ/8 removes this corner softness entirely. The are no switches, distance scale or depth-of-field scale on the lens; the only information is the focal length markings. As you can see, we get the same answer as the first method and find that 35/100 as a percentage is 35%. As appropriate, we shoot these with both full-frame and sub-frame bodies, at a range of focal lengths, and at both maximum aperture and ƒ/8. The lens provides excellent results for chromatic aberration: in-camera correction has taken away any color shifts, turning any aberration into slight reduction in sharpness.

Both lenses are very sharp over the fisrt 3/4of their zoom range – but fade in the final 1/4 of the telephoto end (by a little bit of resolution and a more obvious step of contrast). The zoom ring opens the lens into shooting position, and is well damped for zooming through the focal range. As such, the lens works extremely well on any of the Micro 4/3 bodies, and seems geared towards the smaller cameras such as the Panasonic GM1 and GM5 or the Olympus E-PL7. Well that's true, but having the two lighter lenses on two bodies splits the weight (one on a wrist strap and one in the bag) and often I only take out one body anyway.

i didn't plan to end up with both 35-100s but I find em both very useful (in different roles) and compact for what they are, the slow one is my default choice on the GM1 when I venture out with two bodies (usually to complement an UWA on the OM-D). For what it does, the lens does it very well: the only performance item I might have a problem with is that the variable aperture reduces quite quickly.
