About this deal

It was gonna be dark, instead it came out overexposed, it was gonna be original but came out like 'twas a remake itself; I dunno who gave it 3 stars, leave alone 5 [!

He reminded us what real-life horror looks like with HENRY, now brings you a all new psychological horror film entitled: The Harvest. However this can be forgiven, because as the film draws to a close you may feel a bit thankful for the amount of time you have vested in this family. Still reeling from the loss of her parents, she takes it personally until one day when she is trapped in the house and she discovers the Young's terrible secret.A TV weatherman is recruited by government scientists to help contain powerful freak winds before they converge and destroy the planet. The most terrifying aspect of the film comes from this harrowing performance by Samantha Morton, who plays the doting, loving and obsessive mother. There is little if anything to like about this woman who is married to an amiable, biddable but overwhelmed/ henpecked nurse who has given up his job to be a stay at home dad for their sick son Andy.

As the young pair grow ever closer, Charlie’s mother (Morton) becomes increasingly concerned for her sick boy and obsessive in her quest to shelter him from harm. Nevertheless, I definitely did not expect the twist towards the end of the film and had not guessed the true picture at all.Natasha Calis gives a strong performance as Maryann and is certainly a young actor to look out for in the future. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

The film’s underlying is a positive one; despite the unhappiness felt by many in the film they all act unselfishly, or at least that’s probably what they’re telling themselves. It manages to find its stride at the half-way point, but up until then it does drag ever so slightly. For me it was an hour and twenty minutes well spent and I will be definitely recommending it to friends and family and of course to all you kind souls bothering to read my take on this truly underrated movie. There was some fine acting from the youngsters Charlie Tahan and especially Natasha Calis as the friend who puts everything on the line to rescue him.

The tension takes place mostly in Andy's house where Maryann and Andy must steal precious moments together to play ball and be normal teenagers while avoiding the critical eye of Katherine who most definitely doesn't want Andy to have any visitors. Starring Michael Shannon (Man of Steel, The Iceman) and directed by John McNaughton (Wild Things), a mentally unstable physician (Samantha Morton) keeps her dying son completely secluded from the outside world in a bid to preserve what life he has left. That being said, the film seems to intertwine between two families and the maelstrom of chaos that unravels. Mary Ann moves in next door and befriends Andy however nothing is what it seems at Andy house with a shock of what is in the basement.

IM NOT A FAN OF HORROR so this suited me fine, as there is no gratuitous stuff more generally linked with the horror genre, as scare tactics. A dazed Richard heads down to the basement, and, after unplugging his son's ventilator, sets the basement on fire and lies next to his son. For someone so young she is an utter badass, showing that young girls can be just as tough as their seniors. Played by Natasha Calis, the young Maryann who befriends Andy represents the modern female; she is strong-willed, brave and fearless. Katherine is well respected medial professional that is until she goes home where both her and her husband have been home schooling their only son Andy who has a number of medical conditions. Can’t Come Out To Play explores ideas surrounding the role of the woman; with the two main female characters representing completely opposing ideologies. Overall, the whole cast are spot-on and deliver great performances and they do drive the film forward.
