Since this is a four-hundred-page novel however, I actually probably would have liked for there to be bit punchier and more exciting, and while I know that the second half of the book picks up considerable, it wasn’t by much. A fight ensues, and Lan kills Ryne and Moiraine kills Merean, but not before Merean kills Brys, Diryk, and Iselle.I also want to be clear that these issues are actually relatively minor and mostly relate to that same timescale. The novel ends in the city of Chachin, where Moiraine takes on the former Mistress of Novices, Merean Redhill, who is discovered to be Black Ajah. I’m glad I waited to read New Spring until after reading books 1-14 – this prequel helped stave off a severe book hangover at least for a while. As a result, the first half of the book mainly focuses on Moiraine’s time in the White Tower and on Siuan and Moiraine’s friendship, which had me feeling all nostalgic. If nothing else, the themes are often distressingly adolescent and no matter how many times I read about slaying dragons, it's pretty unlikely that I'll ever slay a dragon in real life.
The learning platform we used previously was not stable, something that caused us a lot of problems. Jordan had originally planned a prequel trilogy, abandoning the idea after a cold reception of “New Spring”—which might have less to do with the book’s quality and more to do with an impatient fanbase who wanted plot progress after “Crossroads of Twilight”, not another digression. The readers are talented and, as a result, this is one book that might be more entertaining to listen to than to read.There is a communal lounge, dining room, kitchen and we have four bathrooms so no queuing in the morning! I wonder if things had still turned out the way they did if they had managed to clear that up; those pranks probably didn’t help either. While some of the issues with “New Spring” might therefore be related to the idea that Jordan originally envisaged more stories filling the twenty-year gap between it and “The Eye of the World”, I don’t think this is primarily the case. The charity undertakes fundraising events with a view to securing its own training and ministry centre.
I'd like to point out the characters are pure, rather innocent and for children reading this book it is likely one of the few books out there today that is well done without all the sex and vulgarity found in many other books. I decided to get it after book 7, since audible doesn't have book 8 at the time I'm writing this review. And the Seanchan, the western invaders, then proceed to not appear very much for a number of books before becoming important again. Now, while I was waiting patiently for Knife of Dreams to come out (Book 11), New Spring was released and confused m, as I thought at first it was book 11, and wondered why book 11 would be a Prequel!
She abuses stray animals with flicks of the Power, and she leaves a shady innkeeper to be gang-raped, b/c it's no less than the woman deserves (according to Herself).
