It’s always quite hard to describe a fragrance, so imagine this if you will – the scent makes me think of Selfridges in its original era, of famous Hollywood starlets, of a sweet-smelling vintage rose garden in the height of summer. Its’ been a couple of years since I first fell head over heels for a certain Vintage Vamp make up collection (which I promise had nothing to do with the rose gold and rich maroon packaging)- and ever since I’ve been positively in love with Charlotte Tilbury. No, I can't think of any logical reason why it should work, either, but the next day I could just about smell something.

When I wear this a very specific character comes to mind; the retired opera star Adelaide Bonfamille from Disney's The Aristocats. Within 20 minutes or so, and the heart is just a very staid, calm floral scent that sits quite close to the skin. Starts off like slightly lemony hairspray then goes woody floral with some powdery amber and surprisingly restrained patchouli.

What I find interesting, though, is that the notes listed here are fairly conventional and inoffensive. I quickly forgot about it as it seemed to disappear but after an hour or so I kept getting quite strong occasional wafts of something rather interesting and very changeable. When I heard that Charlotte Tilbury was releasing a namesake fragrance, I was expecting it to be sweet, a little spicy and sexy – the way I imagine Ms. Could smell it before I took off the cover, one spray spread to both wrists is still overpowering 4 hours later, even after giving my son a bath and washing his hair.

Free,sample from them in the mail and for it for a Christmas gift to myself, and it didn't last that long . I have seen lots of negative reviews and I can understand why some find it an 'old lady scent', but I find this a modern take on a classic style of fragrance, so I guess I'm a modern old lady? From reading the notes, especially the top notes (which by the way are my favorites)I thought that I was going to love it.but for me a sharp chypre top overlays a lush floral with just a slight edge of marigold bitterness. On top of that, it would be rude for me not to mention the stunning campaign that sits alongside this launch. The pheromone notes of hedione, Iso E super, ambroxan, patchouli and peach are activated by body heat and stimulate desire for up to nine hours.
