About this deal

In 'Looking Glass', the third book of the Alice Trilogy by Christina Henry, Hatcher needed help with his Seer powers and Cheshire was sent to come and guide him. My introduction to this book came at a time when I have lost my father and am care taking for a mother suffering from dementia. While looking for the Mad Hatter's house from the trees, Alice encounters the Cheshire Cat in giant form where the Red Queen had promised him that Alice would be good food for him.

Alice the Cat is an engrossing read that seamlessly blends supernatural elements, emotional depth, and the complexities of human connections. With the help of an unexpected friend and the brilliant, adorkable kid who has a huge crush on her, Tess will do whatever it takes to save Alice the cat, help the ghost, heal her dad, and survive the summer in one piece.

Through this exchange, we can see that Alice has yet to discover her identity, or her purpose in Wonderland; however, by conversing with the mysterious creature and exploring different paths, Alice begins to develop an understanding of herself. As part of a limited edition set of decor and animals, Farmville (a Facebook application) has released the caterpillar, seen in the Alice in Wonderland (2010) movie, along with the Cheshire cat, Chessur. After the confusing and useless visit Alice gets lost and encounters him again and the Cheshire Cat directs her to The Queen of Hearts for help, but before she goes he warns her of The Queen's evil ways.

Due to the White Rabbit's deranged state, Cheshire Cat fulfills his role of absorbing Ariko's negative emotions, though the task puts a large strain on him. The slang use ranges from ridiculous to completely unbelievable, with words such as ‘buttnuggets,’ ‘freakiacs,’ and ‘crapballs’.

Alice first encounters the Cheshire Cat at the Duchess's house in her kitchen, and later on the branches of a tree, where it appears and disappears at will, and engages Alice in amusing but sometimes perplexing conversation. Early in the novel, the cat runs in front of a neighbour’s car and almost causes a serious accident.

And now her beloved cat, Alice, has started rushing into the street when cars go by, trying to get run over. Tess attempts to seek solace by running away with her cat, leading her to find friendship in someone she'd never expect. Alice the CTim's recent publications include works in F(r)iction, Scare Street, Lunch Ticket, Meow Meow Pow Pow, From Whispers to Roars, Drunk Monkeys, Hare's Paw, and Critical Read, for which he won the "Origins" essay contest for "You Have Changed Me Forever.

This is an emotional, hopeful middle grade story that presents themes of grief and some of the ways it is outwardly manifested. As she ventures from home, Tess stumbles upon a crew of manga-loving goth kids hiding out in the local haunted house performing sé ances. After the battle and the Jabberwocky is slain, the Red Queen's knights turn against her, and she is captured, her crown suddenly lifts off her head, floats away, and goes to the White Queen's head, and the Cheshire Cat, who had been holding it and was invisible, appeared, and put the crown on her head, and then disappears.
