About this deal

However, she has reckoned without Justin, the son of the hotel owner, who seems determined to take over the running of the kitchen. She hotfoots it there, happy to help out, even when Justin, the son of the owner, turns up and is rather rude to her, especially about women in the kitchen (he’s a chef too). Along the way, you get to know a lovely cast of characters, with a sprinkling of nasty people to make your hackles rise. Even though I really liked Meg, I think Ambrosine has to be my favourite character, I could just sit down with a cup of tea and listen to her for hours without complaint or getting bored of her tales. I can always rely on Katie to create and develop beautifully drawn characters who just work perfectly in whatever situation she places them in.

It's Justin, the owner's son, a chef in his own right, who seems determined to find fault with everything Meg has done. Family politics, whimsical stories of the past, and a lot of passion for this project make the tale a lovely read. This is another one of Katie Fforde’s books that are set in the 19602, and like the previous 2 “A Wedding In The Country’ and “A Wedding In Provence”, it just doesn’t’ really work, and I really can’t just say why, but I think the main issue that it doesn’t have the sparkle and wit of Katie Fforde’s previous book. Meg finds herself attempting to make the hotel profitable again when she stands in for the chef after the previous one quit. I was drawn into this from the very first chapters and I could tell that Meg was a fantastic character, Justin on the other hand… he needed some manners drilling into him!One Enchanted Evening is a literary hug that filled me with a comforting warmth and made me crave for more. The 1960s setting, and his ambivalent feelings towards his father, totally explains Justin's attitude to Meg and her mother, yet it is also quite clear to the reader fairly early on that Justin is also quite smitten by Meg and finds any excuse to visit the hotel. Fforde never disapoints' Weekly'This is the perfect Mother's Day read' Take a Break'This enjoyable read will appeal to die-hard romantics' Heat Magazine____________Ever since she can remember, Meg has wanted to be a professional cook.

Just when things can't get more fraught, in walks Justin the very handsome, but misogynistic , son of the owner of the hotel. This time, the focus is on Meg as she agrees to support her mother with caretaking a Dorset hotel in the owner’s absence. A lot of the scenes are set around food, which makes perfect sense since the two main characters are chefs. Please check out the reviews from the other bloggers taking part in the tour, particularly the Squadpod Ladies who are posting today. It started off quite slow, I wasn’t as engrossed from the start as I normally am with a Katie Fforde book. v=1644943335","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":null,"id":26117201363099,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0.

Among the Characters, I love the play on "found family" trope going among the staff of Nightingale Woods. Set in Dorset, England 1966, "One Enchanted Evening" is a feel-good romance novel that would make you want to go there if you're like me, who hasnt been to the place; if only to experience rustic house hotels. Katie Fforde lives in the beautiful Cotswold countryside with her family, and is a true country girl at heart. I was happy to be involved with these characters and loved Ambrosine, the elderly resident who lives permanently at the hotel and hearing her back story.

Shame it doesn't seem to be the case for the owner's son, who firmly believes that women shouldn't be in charge of a professional kitchen at all.
