About this deal

However, you can experiment with tailoring your home-brewed coffee to your tastes. Flavored syrups and other, more creative coffee add-ins, such as cardamom, salt, or chili pepper can take your coffee to the next level! A 1-cup Moka Pot is for someone who wants only the equivalent of an espresso shot. It makes about 2 ounces (60 ml) of coffee. This amount of coffee is not a lot to drink, but it can be perfect if you want to experiment with making lattes at home. This icon of Italian design first revolutionised the way coffee is prepared at home in 1933. Decades later, Moka Express will still be just as well placed in your kitchen as it is on display in some of the world's most famous art and science museums. Stylish and practical, it makes delicious espresso cups from ground coffee, full or aroma and taste.

It’s pretty easy to clean a Moka Pot. After using it, all you need to do is rinse it under running water, regardless of the size of your Moka Pot. However, be aware that most Moka Pot models are not dishwasher safe and can get damaged beyond repair if you accidentally forget about it.

If your beans are ground more finely, the brew time will take a bit longer because the steam extraction is forced through a more dense grind. DO NOT TAMP THE COFFEE OR RUSH THE BREW PROCESS. 2-3 minutes actual brew time once the coffee starts percolating out of the top chamber port is key. Espresso grind may be too fine for this pot. It should be a bit more coarse but still finely ground. Experiment and take notes on the settings for your particular grinder. When choosing the best Moka Pot, remember that it produces the equivalent of concentrated coffee similar to espresso, not a standard watered-down brew. So Moka Pot cups imply demitasse cups (or half-size cups) that contain two to three ounces of coffee.

The best Moka pot size for you will depend on how much coffee you like to drink and how many people you usually brew it for. Larger Moka Pots of the same brand will typically cost more than the smaller sizes, so your budget may also be among the factors you consider. 1-cup Moka Pot

Main Characteristics

Even though a Moka Pot does not require as much involvement in brewing coffee as Chemex or any other pour-over method, you must keep an eye on it while it bubbles on the stove. Unlike automated coffee makers, Moka Pot should not be left unattended. Leaving Moka Pot on a stove after the brewing cycle finishes can burn the coffee and your coffee pot. My first few tries my heat was too low, so it took a total of 6 or 7 minutes to finish brewing and it didn't make much, if any, crema.) Cleaning: When you unscrew your pot, there should be a some brown water left in the bottom because that leftover water would've diluted your brew too much if it had gone through, and it's got a lot of fines in it, so it's not the best-tasting. This I've learned from the Moka pot video on the "Il Barista Italiano" YouTube channel, among others. Using a Bialetti Moka Express can be daunting to newcomers, but once you know the basics it's easy to produce a high-quality cup every time: Its output is equivalent to almost a double shot of espresso, which is great for making concentrated shots of coffee for two people or making yourself an espresso-based drink that requires a double shot.

I've been using the classic aluminum mokapots for 15 years and have mostly loved them. But they do get nasty after a while and they're hard to clean. (impossible to clean once you've melted the rubber gasket) So I tried a 6-cup stainless version and I like it a lot: How to prepare the coffee: fill the boiler up to the safety valve, fill it up with ground coffee without pressing, close the Moka pot and place it on the stovetop, as soon as Moka Express starts to gurgle, turn the fire off and coffee will be ready Another Moka Pot advantage is that it works without electricity, as long as you have a heat source. Therefore, Moka Pots are great for camping trips because you can use a campfire or camping gas burner to make your brew.As others mentioned, on an electric stovetop it is a little slower to cook than the equivalent aluminum (on a gas stove I can't tell the difference) It's sooo easy to clean with a soapy sponge but I usually just rinse it with water and it comes out spotless Conclusion: I have two Bialetti Venus stainless steel Moka pots and I love them! They're beautiful industrial art and can be used on induction, electric, or gas stoves because they're stainless steel. But Brikka is now my favorite and I use it daily for delicious espresso! (Italians always call Moka pot coffee "espresso.")
