About this deal

The hottest chili is neither habanero nor ghost pepper. It is currently a variety of Carolina reaper, although chile growers like one-upmanship and every few years a hotter strain is released. There are two classic varieties that are the most “normal”, and then some that are not known as chipotles, but are of the same dried chili family: The number exactly in the middle between the minimum and maximum Scoville heat units of the pepper. This gives us one number by which to compare our jalapeño reference point.
