About this deal

Here’s a review of the new HC68 headlamp by Nitecore. This dual-emitter headlamp with red secondary boasts USB-C charging. Read on for more! Red flashing, Beacon, and SOS modes are available by using the Aux modes (double press power button from off), then cycling upwards (Plus button). HC68 is super easy to use with its large power switch and top side stepless focus adjustment buttons. Hold down the (+) button for stepless adjustment up to 1800 lumen piercing spotlight or hold down the (-) button for a wide beam up to a 1400 lumen floodlight. Triple tap the power switch to activate the red light. With the quality you can trust from the Nitecore brand, the HC68 headlamp is rated IP68 waterproof and safe from a total submersion and even drop safe for up to 2 meters. The HC68 is an indispensable tool you can count on no matter if you are at work or have fun outside.

There’s a huge amount of modes that can be tested here – five brightnesses in two different modes (spot and flood), with an infinite number of options between, as spot and flood mix. To keep it simple, I’ve just done runtimes on the two highest modes (“Highest” and “High”) in both 100% spot and 100% flood, as well as the first 10 minutes of the Turbo mode, which lights up both emitters. Personally I believe that the 18650 format, in the headlamps, is still the best compromise between autonomy and weight, so I appreciate Nitecore which still invests and designs in this format. The levels are overall ok spaced, although there's kind of a jump from 200ish lumens to 900ish lumens on both modes.

Granted, Nitecore products are not cheap. On the other hand, the brand has proven itself throughout the years by introducing innovative and top-quality products. The same applies to the HC68: a completely water and dustproof head torch that is incredibly versatile in use. Keeping that in mind I think the price is justified. My conclusion

Nitecore HC68 has a light output of 2,000 lumens and is powered by a 18650 lithium battery that can be recharged via the USB-C port. Excellent adjustable beam with a lighting angle of up to 150 ° and an autonomy of up to 33 days in Ultralow mode. The Nitecore HC68 head torch has a maximum output of 2000 lumens from the 2 x Luminus SST-40-W LEDs and is powered by 1 x high drain 18650 li-ion battery. The lamp has a concealed USB-C charging port for fast and efficient charging. Just like the tailcap that does come off, the threads here are anodized, fine, very long, and smooth. This setup should mean that the USB-C port is very well protected from elements. Dual lenses provide wide and narrow beams. The level brightness levels of each lens can be adjusted using the buttons. The result is that the focus of the light can be adjusted from very wide and even beam to a narrowly focused beam.If it’s not needed, it can be removed and the light can be hand-carried or does a dandy head-or tail-stand.
