About this deal

The Asymmetric Inertia Generator creates advanced aerodynamics at the most critical phase of the swing - the moment right before impact. This breakthrough design increases clubhead speeds, while also allowing additional weight to be placed at the rear of the club to encourage higher MOI, optimal launch and improved forgiveness. The TaylorMade Stealth Driver is twenty years of development that marks the end of the titanium era and enters the age of Carbonwood. The club’s sound at impact also helps golfers with their confidence level when teeing off. Distance and Accuracy for Experienced Golfers Source: taylormadegolf The future of driver performance begins with TaylorMade's 60X Carbon Twist Face - comprised of 60 layers of carbon sheets strategically arranged for better energy transfer and faster ball speeds across a large area of the face. TaylorMade's 20-year journey to change the face of golf was made possible by an innovative nanotexture cover, which creates the face texture needed to produce the ideal amount of friction at impact. The polyurethane cover encases the entire face to fine tune launch and spin, optimizing total distance in all playing conditions. However, the added forgiveness, low spin, and added accuracy were crafted into this driver with great intention, and the benefits outweigh the cons!

A titanium sole and internal sound ribs were also added to increase the “metallic” noise and feel at impact, thus eliminating the sound issues that plagued previous carbon faces. You’ll find all this and more in three Stealth driver options (Stealth, Stealth Plus, Stealth HD) and much of the same tech in a new lineup of fairways and hybrids (sans the carbon face). My first shot felt the same swing and strike as my bombed Stealth, however the other two shots weren’t as true. I had not hit one strike like these with the Stealth, however they were all down the middle of the fairway. One thing TaylorMade learned was that carbon reduced the overall face weight (26 grams) by 40 percent when compared to a titanium face, allowing designers to increase the face size by 11 percent (versus SIM2) and add weight to the body to maximize energy transfer at impact. During GOLF’s ClubTest robot testing, data revealed an increase of 2 miles per hour, on average, across all nine points on the face in head-to-head testing between Stealth and SIM2 Max.However, the higher launching nature of the Stealth may deter superior players looking for piercing flight off the tee. The Taylormade Stealth Driver is also an excellent choice for more experienced golfers looking to maximize their distance and accuracy off the tee. The 60X Carbon Twist Face is encased by a polyurethane cover, featuring a revolutionary new nanotexture technology. The nanotexture cover is used to fine tune launch and spin to optimize total distance regardless of playing conditions.

I wasn’t as consistent as with the standard model as I missed more left and found the face a little easier to turn, but this is a compliment to its workability I suppose. There was a 21 foot curve compared to 8 feet in the Stealth. The Stealth Driver is also designed with a larger head shape covered in Polyurethane to inspire confidence on the tee. Along with its carbon lightness, it features a longer face with a deeper face profile for increased forgiveness. The club also has a low, deep center of gravity for a higher launch angle and less spin.

Knowing that sound is a critical component of feel, TaylorMade's team of engineers obsessed over creating the perfect sound with Stealth. They used a combination of curvature, shape, and internal stiffening ribs to finely tune acoustics, delivering a sound profile that is both bright and powerful to match TaylorMade drivers through recent years. TaylorMade were never going to bring this carbon driver out until it was ready and it was worth the wait. I think this is going to be the benchmark for 2021 drivers in terms of ball speed and therefore distance. The standard Stealth was my favourite model, but the Stealth Plus+ is played by Tiger Woods.

The Feel of the Stealth driver is a double-edged sword. It impressed me and frustrated me simultaneously. I enjoyed its ability to reduce vibrations felt on off-center shots and shield my hands. However, the feeling was too muted, like I was hitting an airball. Forgiveness Carry average was 206 with a total of 235 yards average with my best being 212/240. The ball speed average was the same as the Stealth at 132mph and the launch was slightly lower but both of these numbers are to be expected.

Whether you are a golfer that always buys the latest release, or you are someone that has kept hold of a much older model in the thought that nothing could really improve on it, the TaylorMade Stealth is the driver that could revolutionise your driving. If you are looking for the fastest ball speed combined with the ultimate in forgiveness, then there really is only one choice to make. The TaylorMade Stealth Driver is undoubtedly going to be the must have golf driver in 2022.
