Blistering, high-octane suspense that never lets up.”— New York Times bestselling author Karen Robards I think this is one of my favorite books by her so far and I am really looking forward to more in this new San Diego based series. Amazing and sooooo good! 👏👏 She keeps you wanting to learn all about the characters and anticipating what is going to happen next. Highly recommend all of her books' ELLIJAH is awesome but unbelievable at 9 years old. So definitely suspend your beliefs in this novel and just enjoy what you can. Everything lays out a bit too easily and some of the connections are OTT This entertaining romantic suspense title is the second in the New Orleans series and introduces us to more people in Broussard Investigations.

years ago Kit vowed to find her sister Wrens killer and she became a Detective to do it, ever since the tragic event along with her foster father they’ve turned over every stone and come up with nothing, they’ve had no new leads on Wrens killer for the past 5 years. This new case is so similar to what happened to Wren can Kit do what she does best dispute the pain?. For example, some of the Karen Rose books are set in Minneapolis, others in Baltimore, and yet others in Atlanta, Cincinnati, St. Petersburg, and Chicago. The new ADA in town is here partly to start cleaning up the corrupt players on the force which is one of the reasons Broussard left the police. The stakes feel as high as they can get when there is an attempted kidnapping of the ADA's son, Elijah. The emotional angst of that possibility and the situation of other minors kept me in suspense. Not only is there a lot of action, but also many details as the criminals try to accomplish their goals. They want to force the ADA to let them get on with their criminal activities. Karen Rose has written another top-notch thriller! Grab this book. You won’t be able to put it down.”— New York Times bestselling author, Brenda Novak

And Val starts to question why her brother was murdered. Only the answer isn't the one she expected. Karen Rose’s special seasoning is corruption and murder. Her first New Orleans novel is a winner and readers will want more.”— Criminal Element Beneath Dark Waters is a standalone second book in the New Orleans sub-series and the twenty-eighth entry in the overall Romantic Suspense series. There are connections to the previous book, but not in such a way that new readers couldn’t grab this one and appreciate all they were getting.

That man is Aaron Gates. Who it turns out is connected to a gang Sixth Day. Whom NOPD believe long disbanded but now believe are targeting Kaj's son. As you can imagine, sparks fly when Sam and Kit cross paths. Sam is released after his encounter with Kit, but he goes home with both a newfound distaste for the SDPD and a resolve–not unlike Kit’s–to uncover the truth. Despite their differences, Kit and Sam repeatedly butt heads in their separate investigations, but they’re eventually forced to work together to find one of the deadliest serial killers the city has faced in a decade. Cold-Blooded Liar was an excellent, excellent book with fabulous characters that were easy to relate to. Not only were Sam and Kit wonderful, there were also Kit’s uncle and aunt Sullivan and Marion, as well as her partner, Baz and her new partner. I love that this book laid the groundwork for what promises to be a fabulous series. This book is serious and heartbreaking but offers so much promise when it comes to the strength of the characters and their determination to find justice. This was a thrilling book that I literally sped through because I just had to know what was going to happen next, and I am very excited for the next book in the series. This story is unlike any I have read in the past. Rose dives into a serial killer, his crimes, and his victims. She weaves emotions and deep connections between the characters into this story. You get all of the feels right along with the characters. But, on the flip side, there is so much hope because the professions are portrayed as human, but good, tough, and relentless at their jobs. Kit was the main detective, but there were several working together and then there was Sam’s investigations, too. This one was interesting because the second main character is both a detective and a suspect and the author takes the reader into what that can feel like, as well.
