I personally always been interested in the Day of the Dead myself – I like the idea of celebrating the dead and making the “morbid, less morbid”. So once again, we thought we would come together and share our Day of Dead Craft ideas in a video for you. I have then added some additional links for you peruse! Día de los Muertos Overview Key themes of Dia de Los muertos are altars (known as an ofrenda) to honor the dead, decorative Calaveras (also known as Sugar Skulls or Day of the Dead Skulls) and colourful marigolds and other orange and yellow flowers. They are often depicted as colorful and vibrant sugar skulls, which are used as decorations during the celebrations. I asked the boys what they would like to make, and ‘masks’ and ‘bunting’ seemed popular and do-able choices… as they are 9 and 10 now, and love their Marvel graphic novels, they wanted me to ‘draw’ the templates in Illustrator for them to colour – so that’s what we’ve done… and I’ve attached a FREE Printable for you to colour and create your own Day of the Dead garland too…(you too can make your own ‘microwave dave’ character like the 10yo…) Adorn yourself with flowers and skeleton masks to prepare for Day of the Dead! Choose from our wide range of Day of the Dead decorations and costumes, including full outfits, day of the dead accessories and beautiful headbands and masks to get you looking the part. We have costumes for men, women and kids so everyone can enjoy the party. The sugar skull motif is essential for Day of the Dead, so don't forget to buy some face paints to complete your divine look.
