About this deal

Muhamad Hamzapur, 18, said he is not usually a big chocolate fan but that he liked the new Quality Street. “To be honest, I don’t normally want to eat them [Quality Streets], but this one’s delicious,” said the student from Bermondsey. I counted the chocolates in a 650g tub of Nestle Quality Street to find out how many chocolates you get per tub and here are the results: While Quality Street’s products aren’t the most calorific around and are certainly tasty, how do they rate in environmental terms? There have been concerns raised around the environmental cost of palm oil used by major confectioners as well as the working conditions in cacao-growing areas, but are Quality Street involved in these scandals? Intrigue Truffles sold separately as Praline, Salted Caramel and Orange (Salted Caramel and Praline are sold at both Asda and Morrison's stores, whereas Orange is sold at Asda only)

Like Heroes, they comprises miniature versions of the chocolate brands owned by the manufacturer - Mars. Honeycomb Crunch - Also available in separate bars, the new Honeycomb Crunch replaced Toffee Deluxe in the brown wrapper (to the dismay of some fans) in 2016. But it's proving a hit with its sweet honeycomb and chocolate centre. If you reach straight for the fruity flavour of a classic Strawberry Delight when the box of Quality Street® is opened, this one is just for you. This sharing bag of Strawberry Delights has been made just for lovers of these classic fruity fondants. Discover the iconic sparkle of these individually-wrapped strawberry flavour chocolates. Each one contains a deliciously smooth strawberry-flavoured centre coated in rich dark chocolate. Please note, calorie figures are not exact and are based on averages from the nutritional information available. Quality Street Chocolate Type Almond Octagon (purple wrapper, replaced with Vanilla Octagon, but the latter is now discontinued as well)It’s worth noting that many of these experienced minor alterations while others were dropped altogether. Toffee Fingers – Chocolate coated toffee fingers measuring an inch and a half long, these sweets are satisfying to chew on, offering a wonderful combination of chocolate and gooey toffee.

To illustrate the differences between the two eras of selection boxes, Roses, like Quality Street, had their flavours specifically made and wrapped in coloured foil compared to Celebrations and Heroes later using brands that already existed. We finish with one of the 'original two', Roses, which launched in 1938 - two years after Quality Street first came onto the market. Quality Street make a wide variety of different chocolates and toffees. Targeted at everyday chocolate fans, Quality Street isn’t a fancy, gourmet brand. Instead, they have perfected the art of making affordable, popular (and absolutely delicious) sweet treats for kids and adults alike. Such was his enthusiasm that he suggested they remove the strawberry or orange flavours from the tins, longstanding favourites of which he is not a fan, and replace them with the white chocolate. The list of discontinued brands is far less extensive than its three competitors with just two losing their place over the years. Those are the main quantities on offer from Quality Street, but what about the chocolates themselves? Nowadays, you’ll find 12 different flavours and styles in a standard Quality Street collection, including: The sweets within the box have changed and evolved over the years. As of September 2019, there are 15 flavours (including the Fruit Cremes box exclusive, John Lewis exclusive, and Matchmakers) of the individually wrapped sweets, all of which are either chocolate or toffee based, as follows: Orange Cream – A burst of orange flavour erupts from inside the dark chocolate shell of these ever-popular sweets.

Like Heroes, they comprise of miniature versions of the chocolate brands owned by the manufacturer - Mars. As for the brands that’ve been lost, there have been a surprising number given the selection has only been in existence for just over 20 years. But how do Quality Street compare with other chocolate brands? Not too badly actually. Quality Street chocolates contain around 455 calories per 100g, which is more or less the same as Mars bars, but much less than Cadbury’s Dairy Milk (which weighs in at 530 calories). So if you are worried about your waistline and absolutely must dive into a tin of sweets, Quality Street may not be the worst option around – but it’s definitely not a health food. It’s a sweet treat. Are Quality Street Products Environmentally Friendly? According to Nestle, three Quality Street chocolates add up to around 130 calories, so each single chocolate will be about 40-50 calories. Given that the daily recommended intake of an adult woman is 2,000 calories, that doesn’t seem to bad. Then again, it’s easy to start munching chocolates, and before too long, your calorie intake has gone through the roof.

Heroes, of course, have been around for nowhere near as long as Cadbury's other selection though they now feel like they have been available for a long, long time. Harriet Canby, 30, a surveyor from south-west London, nodded approvingly as she tasted the sweet, but said she was usually more of a Celebrations person. She said white chocolate, which she associates with children’s chocolates like Milky Bars, can be a “love-hate” flavour for people. But she said the new Quality Street was delicious. “Really good. I like the crunchy centre.” Gooseberry Cream (green wrapper light green fondant with a touch of Gooseberry Preserve covered in milk chocolate)

Strawberry Delights are just one of the iconic sweet in the Quality Street® family. Our famous sweets were born in when 1936 John Macintosh, the owner of a successful confectionery business in Norwich, sold a deliciously chewy new toffee invented by his wife. When his son inherited the business, he soon created a range of sweets in beautiful wrappers that everyone could enjoy – and Quality Street® was born. The table below shows you how many of each type of chocolate you can expect in a standard 650g tub of Quality Street. Taking a break from perusing the shelves, Frank Vergara, 53, was so keen to try it that he made an exception from his usual rule of avoiding treats on weekdays. The sales and marketing worker from Waterloo said: “I definitely taste the white chocolate. There are little grains in there, I’m not sure exactly what they are but it’s quite pleasant. Quite sweet of course … But definitely indulgent, nice.” Share with friends and family and create treasured moments this festive season, or give the perfect gift to a Strawberry Delight lover. Whatever the occasion, nothing says ‘Christmas’ more than the sparkle of Quality Street®. Metal Tins – The largest Quality Street product on offer, these “gifting tins” will feature enough confectionery for any children’s party and be a fitting gift for friends and family. The tins are also a great container for household items, with their attractive, sturdy design. So there are arguments to be made either way if sustainability is one of your major purchasing motivations. Alternatives to Quality Street You Might Want to Look at Well, the short answer is there is very rarely an even spread of sweets in the traditional tubs of Quality Street, Roses, Celebrations and Heroes sold in huge quantities at Christmas. As for the miniatures that have been lost, there has been a surprising number given the selection has only been in existence for just over 20 years. Celebrations have the tagline "Share the joy", and were one of the first mixed boxes of chocolates in the UK to bring together confectionery which had been already released in one box or tin instead of introducing new, specially-created treats made exclusively for the UK market, by a major producer.
