p.57 – Relationships with our parents can be complicated. That fundamental relationship is responsible for so much of who we are and what we become. As Ted says, “Boys, I love meeting people’s moms. It’s like an instruction manual as to why they’re nuts.” In other words, how we have been parented shapes us. And sometimes, some of us get shaped with odd angles and difficult edges which cast negative shadows on us as adults. Symbolism is important – Rituals and the severity of the initiation can bond a team together through shared experience. Otterson, Joe (April 20, 2022). It’s easier to be true to yourself if you know who you are. Try new things, push yourself, be curious and outward looking and you’ll find out. That did NOT happen with Ted Lasso. From episode one every single aspect of it FAR EXCEEDED all of my expectations.... The cast selection is top notch. The writing is A++. The acting is just amazing. Every single thing about it could not be better. The larks ascending ... Sudeikis with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on Saturday Night Live. Photograph: NBCUniversal/Getty The true power of Ted Lasso is his ability to be fully present to each person he is with, and to be completely vulnerable during every interaction. He makes it clear that he is in each relationship for the long haul and will wear down your protective walls with his perseverance and his love. More importantly, he will never judge your imperfections or tear you down to make himself look better. Ted’s actions and the impact he has on others provide lessons about being a good spouse, parent, friend, teammate, coach, and person.

p.65 – “Woman up!” Ted tells Jamie. “I think you mean, ‘Man up!’ Jamie replies. Coach Beard and Ted shake their heads. No, Ted meant what he said. “You’ve been manning up for a while now,” he tells him. “And look where that’s got you!”

p.15 – John Wooden, a real-life coach, who made sporting history for leading UCLA’s men’s basketball teams to ten NCAA championships in twelve years (John Wooden’s Pyramid of Success – www.coachwooden.com).

p.59 – Re-parenting is learning how to be very kind to ourselves, treating and loving ourselves like the very best, kindest, most attentive parent ever would. One of the reasons why this show has captivated the imagination of fans lies in its potential for practical application in everyday life. Ted Lasso’s coaching approach and his outlook on life itself are rooted in empathy, kindness, and personal development. Clubbing together ... Communicate and fit people into your daily routine– Ted begins every day with “Biscuits with the Boss.” When he started this routine with Rebecca, the team owner, she wanted nothing to do with it. But Ted insisted saying “we can’t be good partners if we don’t know each other.” This means getting to know people by being curious and asking questions and really listening to the answers. p.16 – He believed that it was not about winning or losing, rather about the effort it took in trying to be the best version of yourself that you could possibly be. “Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best you are capable of becoming” (Wooden, 1948). The series follows Ted Lasso, an American college football coach, who is unexpectedly recruited to coach a fictional English Premier League soccer team, AFC Richmond, despite having no experience coaching soccer. The team's owner, Rebecca Welton, hires Lasso hoping he will fail as a means of exacting revenge on the team's previous owner, her unfaithful ex-husband. In the episode, Ted must spend a day with Trent Crimm, a reporter for The Independent who questions his leadership, as a favor to Rebecca preventing a photograph from being published. Maybe that's because I know I wanted to see or read it really bad before it got all the hype. Then it got all the hype. So I let myself get my expectations soooooo high. I set myself up for to be disappointed. Gama, Daniela (July 17, 2022). "10 Most Heartwarming 'Ted Lasso' Episodes, Ranked". Collider . Retrieved March 8, 2023.

Ted is the quintessential leader who mixes optimism, motivation, humor, vulnerability, and love into a powerful tool to accomplish his goal of making everyone a better version of themselves. p.44 – Jason Sudeikis was an established working comedy actor. But he was never quite the breakthrough star until Ted Lasso made him one at 45 years old in 2020. There is a poster in Ted’s office in the show that reads: Gradarius Firmus Victoria. Slow and Steady Wins the Race. Guided by the book A Wrinkle in Time that Ted gave him, Roy decides to take matters in his own hands. He visits a nightclub, and tells Jamie and his friends to stop bullying Nate. At night, Higgins ( Jeremy Swift) reads Crimm's article to Rebecca. Crimm wrote that even though Ted's nature and methods will not be well received and would result in the club's relegation, he will be supporting the "Lasso Way", leaving Rebecca furious.

[…] “Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow you heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.” Don’t aim to please others all the time. People pleasing is exhausting and never earns the respect you hope for. Remember when Ted told Sam to ‘Be a goldfish’ because it has a short memory. Confucius bequeathed his own version: “To be wronged is nothing, unless you continue to remember it.”
