About this deal

All of this comes in a very nice carrying shell case that protects everything for easy travel. Easy to fly It maens the drone has entered the compass calibration state and you need to perform horizontal and vertical calibration. Ruko claims the drone has a range of almost 3km which is very impressive. Another advantage of a slightly larger drone like this is it’s easier to see further away. On a clear day I could just about spot it 130m from me. So I can’t confirm whether it can achieve even close to its maximum range under our local flight restrictions in the UK, where the drone has to be visible at all times. But in all my test flights I never lost communication between the controller and drone, and the live video feed to my phone worked very well.

For beginners, the drone is automatically set to Beginner Mode, which limits flight altitude and distance. This allows you to get used to the controls before flying further afield. Once flight confidence is gained, you can switch off this mode and set the maximum altitude and distance to the legal limits, or less if you prefer, but bear in mind these limits aren't the only legal restrictions on drone flights. Then turn on the controller with the power button. The first press shows the battery remaining and the second press turns it on. The controller and drone will automatically link with each other which takes up to 40s and the display on the controller will switch from connecting to cal compass. To calibrate the compass first rotate the drone horizontally 1-2 turns. Then vertically with the camera pointing upwards. You’ll get a confirmation beep when this is completed and the front and rear LEDs will stop flashing purple. You have to do this every time you turn the drone on. I wish it had is obstacle avoidance, which keeps the drone from running into things as it flies or tries to land. This is why the drone is tagged for adults who can be a bit more careful and not run into trees or other things. I’d recommend setting your return altitude based on your surroundings. You don’t want it having to ascend to its maximum 120m if the battery is low if it doesn’t need to. Where I fly 50-80m is plenty. This might sound like a lot of money – it is – but the default version of the Ruko F11 GIM2 drone is what most other brands would call the Fly More edition, which means you get an extra battery, a carry case, and a few other accessories included. The Ruko F11 Gim 2 drone is a camera drone that is priced in the mid-range. While connected to the WiFi network, the Gim 2 drone begins collecting photographs and movies with its FHD camera. This is a fantastic option for anyone seeking a low-cost camera drone. Why Not Go with Other Brands?

The Ruko F11 Gim2 Review – A Drone You Don’t Want To Miss

I'll start this section with a bit of a confession: My first attempt at trying to fly the Ruko F11 GIM2 ended up with the drone flying into the sea wall situated not too far from me. In hindsight, I could've been farther away from any obstruction, but considering I was out in the open, I thought the GPS would be able to hover the drone steadily. Interestingly, the controller also has a foldable design. You get the usual folding antennas, but the bottom of the controller folds out, too, to improve ergonomics. I have large hands, so I enjoyed this feature, although I think it would've made some sense to integrate the smartphone clamp in this area (between the two arms). Again, this isn't a deal-breaker issue; more of an observation. I’ll see how easy it is to get started, and I’ll test out all its features to help you decide if this might be your perfect first drone.I tested the drone in various conditions and it couldn’t be any easier to fly. I didn’t fly it in very windy conditions but I still felt confident controlling it in a stiff breeze which is one advantage of a slightly heavier drone like this. If you let it hover without touching the controls it’s not completely steady but it’s a lot better than I was expecting. If you’ve installed an microSD card, tap on the SD card icon to format the card. You can toggle between photo and video mode and tap the record icon to start recording. There are no recording options – the camera will record 4K photos and videos to the SD card. At the same time it records 4K photos to your phone but only 720p videos. The videos are 30fps – I’d really like a 25fps option for PAL regions like the UK. The GPS also enables a flight mode called Follow Me that lets you tap on a subject on the phone’s screen and the drone will follow automatically.
