About this deal

Ambient/Techno fans will find that this compilation scratches an itch as Tycho provides an exhilarating release. He has wrought a release that honours his inspirations while allowing listeners to understand his own listening choices. Tycho offers a beautifully curated walk through his inspirations and remixes with his episode of Back to Mine.

In 2022, following an eight-year live hiatus, Hard-Fi advised that they would play a handful of dates, including a gig at the Kentish Town Forum in London. In the evening, it becomes a bar with expertly crafted cocktails and hand-picked wines alongside cheeseboards (with traditional and plant-based offerings from La Fauxmagerie, olives and sharing plates). Spectre (Bibio Remix)” is spectacular at conjuring up a gorgeous blend of acoustic guitars and otherworldly splendour.

This is a great compilation, like that friend who has a better record collection and deeper knowledge and range of music in his or her listening pallette.

Naturally, you'll find a clutch of the Leeds-raised artist's own productions and reworks dotted throughout, including a wonderfully loved-up, string-laden house version of "Russia" by Fat Freddy's Drop. Review:Beyond their monumental output as recording artists, Groove Armada have done more than their fair share of stellar mixes and compilations in their time, but will anything top the first jewel in their crown, Back To Mine? Here, Warren effortlessly floats from jazz to trip hop, to ambient, with excellent mixing and superb track selection. Evelyn’s mix is also biographical in a sense as it has a deep connection to his Northern roots with Manchester’s Children of Zeus’ gorgeously soulful Fear of a Phat Planet opening the album helping the listener settle into the right state of mind and Hull’s Steve Cobby appearing twice, once under his own name and featuring Crazy P’s Danielle Moore on the upbeat and disco inflected Lefthanded Book, and under the moniker Chieftan which is a deep slice of electro-disco that is quite frankly irresistible. There’s coffee from London-based Perky Blenders and small plates and grazing boards throughout the day. The copyright in this sound recording is owned by Trojan Records under exclusive license to Sanctuary Records. Review:The best editions of the long running "Back To Mine" series tend to be those where the chosen selector offers up a varied but loosely linked mix of surprising and lesser-known tunes. E. invited you back to his Ibiza villa for a post-club crack on, this edition of the long-running "Back To Mine" series has all the answers. On “Local”, there is this inherent balance as the drums take the lead on this short but sweet selection.

Review:We're used to hearing Horse Meat Disco set the peak of the night alight with their fierce and fabulous route through disco, house and Italo, but what happens after the dance? This shows how good the ear and record collection are of Nick who is such a genius in putting this together! There are the “mixes” that are record companies way of getting their songs onto a CD in time for the Christmas market just throwing a celebrity endorsement on the cover and presenting it as if this a joint venture and not just a case of them picking the tracks and the celebrity picking up the cheque. There is a very similar pressing but with a different disc print layout here Nick Warren - Back To Mine.
