About this deal

After first being teased in September 2016 as Star Wars: Classified, [13] Star Wars: Doctor Aphra was announced in October 2016, [14] and began to be released in December 2016. ABY – 3 ABY [11] [Source] Star Wars: Doctor Aphra is a comic book series that began publication on December 7, 2016. Kinda stuck between loving the first half (everything with Aphra written by Gillen) and really not finding the second half particularly engaging on a story level despite loving a lot of the concepts Spurrier throws into the mix. Davits Draven died during the Assault on the Mako-Ta Space Docks, which according to Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition, was one year after the mission to steal the Death Star plans.

Doctor Aphra Omnibus Vol. 2 - Wookieepedia Star Wars: Doctor Aphra Omnibus Vol. 2 - Wookieepedia

A huge collection of fifty-four issues featuring the immoral archaeologist Doctor Aphra, covering the years between Episodes IV and V. This relatability begs the reader to expect more revelations from her character, as with every arc she is revealed to be more complex than we thought.I love everything about this series and hope one day there is enough issues to warrant a volume two omnibus. In some instances, you will find yourself cheering for her defeat while hoping for her to succeed in the next one. Dr Aphra and her supporting cast are a welcome addition to the star wars mythos that I hope will one day be translated on the screen.

Despite all the story dots being connected, it's hard to get invested on a deeper level, when you're bombarded with convenient resolutions at every twist and turn. These are complex, messy relationships with heart at the core unmatched by anything else in Star Wars. Doctor Aphra is a criminal archaeologist with an expert knowledge of droid and weapons technologies, [1] [2] with a particular interest in ancient weapons and Jedi artifacts. It's not about redemption per se, but rather just about the emotional connections we all make, whether we want to or not.Three issues written by Jason Aaron for the Star Wars: Vader Down crossover are also included: Vader Down, Part I and Star Wars issues 13–14.

They are good stories, but the ones included in here leave out the Darth Vader issues that don’t include Aphra, so key parts of that particular story are missing. Aphra became a breakout character, [2] [12] [33] and was placed in her own series, Doctor Aphra, which is the first ongoing Marvel Star Wars comic focused on an original character not from the films. Her reaction to the news is complex: She's awed, even a little turned on, at the thought of such destructive might. It’s also brings together each comic’s main characters into a single story: from R2-D2 and Beetee One to Princess Leia and Doctor Aphra. Later in the series, Captain Tolvan from the Imperial Forces and a couple of freelance monster hunters named Winloss and Nokk will become regular appearances in the series.
