The latter were perfect, but the former could have done with more crisping, despite having had 20 minutes at the maximum 200℃. If you’re cooking double quantities, the match-cook setting saves you from having to programme the drawers twice. While the main selling point of an air fryer is about reducing the amount of oil you use in cooking and enabling you to pick healthier options, it’s not just a gimmick.

It’s my own fault, but be aware, your dish may end up ruined and if the rack falls on your hand, you can end up burning yourself. I suppose you could argue that an auto-switch-off function isn’t available on most traditional ovens and therefore isn’t essential, but we’d still like it.If you’re hoping to impress someone with a morning fry up, the Dual Air would probably blow the surprise. It’s extremely helpful to dial up two different programmes, then just start the Dual Air running and have it deliver everything ready at the same time. If you want chips and sausages, or chicken breast with corn on the cob, you’re going to need to cook one of them somewhere else. After testing out the Salter Dual Air Fryer, I could happily see myself never using an oven or pan full of oil ever again. We like air fryers partly for the innovative roster of functions often on offer to cook ingredients quickly and evenly.That’s plenty for many dishes but, as my tests confirmed, it’s a little gutless for getting the best browning on chips and other items that need a really good crisping or searing. It’s also more compact than you’d expect, measuring 40cm in length, 36cm in width and 32cm in height. The majority of the presets are aimed at cooking meat and fish, but the other functions include chips, desserts, vegetables, reheating, and dehydrating. Firstly to cook homemade chips, then to cook a mock meat, and thirdly to either cook a baked item, or to test the frying ability, depending on the capabilities. From the frying rack to the top of the drawer, it measures 12cm, with space underneath the rack for the air to circulate and catch any crumbs from food.

A jacket potato, despite the recommended time of 25 minutes for a whole potato in the companion Salter recipe book, was still raw in the middle. We would have benefited from more cooking guidance for vegetables, but cooking time and temperatures are easily adaptable so experimenting to achieve your personal favourites would be doable. Get familiar with your recipes and end results first, otherwise, you may end up disappointed and waiting for dinner longer than you expected!With 12 preset functions and drawers deep enough to accommodate a small whole chicken, this is a good entry-level model for dual-drawer air frying. We were big fans of the dual drawers and the freedom to cook different foods at different temperatures. Thanks to non-stick coatings on the drawers and crisp trays, the cleaning was really simple by hand. Bacon is also a great meat to cook in the air fryer if you like it crispy, but a beefburger dried out and didn’t retain its moisture, so it was almost inedible.
