About this deal

If you think a hefty stand spiralizer would only gather dust in the back of your cupboard, a diminutive hand-held version is the best choice for you. Before you get started, be sure to read my how-to guide to mastering perfect zucchini noodles that aren’t soggy and the Three Best Ways to Cook Zucchini Noodles. Its single blade, while limiting, can handle most vegetables as long as they’ve come directly from the fridge. More expensive multi-blade spiralizers were put through their paces with a range of vegetables – from easy-to-cut courgettes to awkwardly shaped beetroot and notoriously tough butternut squash.

The ProCook spiralizer, meanwhile, is a great reminder that quality should always take precedence over quantity – you’ll get just two blades with this one, but their incredible sharpness puts other spiralizers’ blades to shame. Sleek looks aside, the obvious downside to this model is the fact that there are just two blades, with one for thicker spirals and one for thinner strands. This 10-blade spiralizer comes with more blades than the others in our selection, meaning you can make everything from veggie angel-hair noodles to pappardelle.OXO’s Good Grips spiralizer is our top pick and, while it won’t win any prizes for added features, its simplicity is what makes it stand out as an easy-to-use everyday tool. We loved the monochrome and metal look of this spiralizer – why are so many spiralizers made of plastic in varying shades of white, cream and grey? We also pushed the gadgets a little further by testing how they handled harder veg like carrots, potatoes and butternut squash. Suitable for single portions, it’s ideal for making thick or fine noodles out of vegetables such as courgette and carrot.

We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections, which are formed from real-world testing and expert advice. The attachment and blades come in a solid cardboard box that does require some storage space but we think worth it if you spiralize regularly.

Easy to use, simply fix the vegetable into place then use the handle to twist it through the blade making ready to cook spirals. Its semi-enclosed design makes it family-friendly, and it’s both dishwasher safe and easy to clean manually. Our favourite things about this sturdy spiralizer include its compact design (particularly the handle, which can be removed for easy storage) and the fact that the mechanism meant we could spiralise our vegetables by applying force against the surface it’s on (rather than horizontally), minimising the need to stabilise the spiralizer.
